Proverbs 19:6-16

1Many will seek the favor of a generous man, And every man is a friend to him who 2gives gifts.
All the brothers of a poor man hate him; How much * more do his 3friends abandon him! He 4pursues them with words, but they are gone.
He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will 5find good.
A 6false witness will not go unpunished, And he who tells lies will perish.
Luxury is 7not fitting for a fool; Much * less for a 8slave to rule over princes.
A man's 9discretion makes him slow to anger, And it is his glory 10to overlook a transgression.
The 11king's wrath is like the roaring of a lion, But his favor is like 12dew on the grass.
A 13foolish son is destruction to his father, And the 14contentions of a wife are a constant dripping.
House and wealth are an 15inheritance from fathers, But a prudent wife is from the LORD.
16Laziness casts into a deep sleep, And an idle man will suffer hunger.
He who 17keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is careless of conduct will die.
