Psalms 14:2-7

2 The LORD has 1looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there are any who 2understand, Who 3seek after God.
3 They have all 4turned aside, together they have become corrupt; There is 5no one who does good, not even one.
4 Do all the workers of wickedness 6not know, Who 7eat up my people as they eat bread, And 8do not call upon the Lord?
5 There they are in great dread, For God is with the 9righteous generation.
6 You would put to shame the counsel of the afflicted, But the LORD is his 10refuge.
7 Oh *, that 11the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD 12restores His captive people, Jacob will rejoice, Israel will be glad.

Psalms 14:2-7 Meaning and Commentary

To the chief Musician, [a Psalm] of David. The argument of this psalm, according to Theodoret, is Sennacherib's invasion of Judea, when he sent Rabshakeh to Hezekiah, with menaces and curses; upon which Hezekiah implored divine help, and obtained it, and the Assyrian army was destroyed by an angel; of all which he thinks this psalm was prophetic.
