The aburden of the word of the LORDconcerningIsrael. Thus declares the LORD who 1stretches out the heavens, 2lays the foundation of the earth, and 3forms the spirit of manwithin him,
2"Behold, I am going to makeJerusalem a 4cupbthat causes reeling to all the peoplesaround; and when the siege is againstJerusalem, it will also be against5Judah.
"It will come about in that day that I will makeJerusalem a heavy6stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be 7severelycinjured. And all the 8nations of the earth will be gatheredagainst it.
"In that day," declares the LORD, "I will strikeeveryhorse with bewilderment and his rider with madness. But I will dwatchover the house of Judah, while I strikeeveryhorse of the peoples with blindness.
"Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, 'eA strongsupport for us are the inhabitants of Jerusalem through the LORD of hosts, their God.'
"In that day I will make the clans of Judah like a 9firepot among pieces of wood and a flamingtorch among sheaves, so they will consume on the righthand and on the leftall the surroundingpeoples, while the 10inhabitants of Jerusalemagaindwell on their own sites in Jerusalem.
"The LORD also will 11save the tents of Judahfirst, so that the glory of the house of 12David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem will not be magnifiedaboveJudah.
"In that day the LORD will 13defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the one who f14is feeble among them in that day will be like David, and the house of David will be like 15God, like the 16angel of the LORDbefore them.
"And in that day I will g17setabout to destroyall the nations that comeagainstJerusalem.
"I will 18pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, hthe Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have 19pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one 20mourns for an onlyson, and they will weepbitterlyover Him like the bitterweepingover a firstborn.
"In that day there will be great21mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the iplain of jMegiddo.
"The land will mourn, everyfamily by itself; the family of the house of David by itself and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself and their wives by themselves;
the family of the house of Levi by itself and their wives by themselves; the family of the Shimeites by itself and their wives by themselves;
14all the families that remain, everyfamily by itself and their wives by themselves.
