1 Samuel 1:27

27 I prayed for this child, and the Lord answered my prayer and gave him to me.

1 Samuel 1:27 Meaning and Commentary

1 Samuel 1:27

For this child I prayed
Which she now had in her hand, and was presenting to Eli:

and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him;
and which he also desired might be granted her, or foretold that it would be, ( 1 Samuel 1:17 ) though perhaps he knew not then particularly what it was she asked; nor did she acquaint him with it at parting, as she now did, having obtained of the Lord what she was so solicitous for, and now makes mention of with thankfulness.

1 Samuel 1:27 In-Context

25 After they had killed the bull for the sacrifice, Hannah brought Samuel to Eli.
26 She said to Eli, "As surely as you live, sir, I am the same woman who stood near you praying to the Lord.
27 I prayed for this child, and the Lord answered my prayer and gave him to me.
28 Now I give him back to the Lord. He will belong to the Lord all his life." And he worshiped the Lord there.
