Psalms 37:27

27 Turn away from evil and do good. Then you will live in the land forever.

Psalms 37:27 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 37:27

Depart from evil, and do good
Depart from evildoers, and their evil ways; join not with them, nor fret and be envious at them; but do acts of beneficence, and all good works; since righteous men, and their seed, are not forsaken, but blessed of God; (See Gill on Psalms 34:14);

and dwell for evermore;
or "thou shalt dwell for evermore" F26; see ( Psalms 37:3 ) ; that is, in everlasting habitations, in the house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens, ( Luke 16:9 ) ( 2 Corinthians 5:1 ) . The Targum is, "that thou mayest dwell in everlasting life".

Psalms 37:27 In-Context

25 I once was young, and now I'm old. But I've never seen godly people deserted. I've never seen their children begging for bread.
26 The godly are always giving and lending freely. Their children will be blessed.
27 Turn away from evil and do good. Then you will live in the land forever.
28 The LORD loves those who are honest. He will not desert those who are faithful to him. They will be kept safe forever. But the children of sinners will be cut off from the land.
29 Those who do what is right will be given the land. They will live in it forever.
