Psalms 44:20

20 We didn't forget our God. We didn't spread out our hands in prayer to a strange god.

Psalms 44:20 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 44:20

If we have forgotten the name of our God
As antichrist, and the antichristian party did in those times, ( Daniel 11:36 Daniel 11:37 ) ;

or stretched out our hands to a strange god;
as not to any of the Heathen deities under the Pagan persecutions, so not to any images of gold, silver, brass, and wood, under the Papal tyranny; not to the Virgin Mary, nor to angels and saints departed; nor to the breaden God in the mass, never heard of before; see ( Daniel 11:38 Daniel 11:39 ) ( Revelation 9:21 ) .

Psalms 44:20 In-Context

18 Our hearts had not turned away from you. Our feet had not wandered from your path.
19 But you crushed us and left us to the wild dogs. You covered us over with deep darkness.
20 We didn't forget our God. We didn't spread out our hands in prayer to a strange god.
21 If we had, God would have discovered it. He knows the secrets of our hearts.
22 But because of you, we face death all day long. We are considered as sheep to be killed.
