Mark 8:14

14 Now the disciples had forgotten to bring any bread; and they had only one loaf with them in the boat.

Mark 8:14 Meaning and Commentary

Mark 8:14

Now the disciples had, forgotten to take bread
At Dalmanutha, or Magdala, or whatever place in those parts they were at, before they took shipping, as was their usual method.

Neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf;
for thirteen passengers of them. The Persic version reads the whole thus: "and they forgot to take bread with them, not indeed one loaf, and there was no bread with them in the ship"; (See Gill on Matthew 16:5).

Mark 8:14 In-Context

12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit and said, "Why does this generation ask for a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation."
13 And he left them, and getting into the boat again, he went across to the other side.
14 Now the disciples had forgotten to bring any bread; and they had only one loaf with them in the boat.
15 And he cautioned them, saying, "Watch out—beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod."
16 They said to one another, "It is because we have no bread."
