56 Fue así como Dios le pagó a Abimélec con la misma moneda, por el crimen que había cometido contra su padre al matar a sus setenta hermanos.

Judges 9:56

Thus God rendered the wickedness of Abimelech which he did
unto his father
To the disgrace of his father's character, and to the hurt of his father's family:

in slaying his seventy brethren;
excepting one, which was a piece of unheard of wickedness, attended with most sad aggravations; the shedding such blood required blood to be shed again, and it was righteous judgment God rendered to him; this, and the following verse contain the remarks made upon this history by the writer of it, who, as we have seen, in all probability, was the Prophet Samuel.

54 De inmediato llamó Abimélec a su escudero y le ordenó: «Saca tu espada y mátame, para que no se diga de mí: “¡Lo mató una mujer!”» Entonces su escudero le clavó la espada, y así murió.

55 Cuando los israelitas vieron que Abimélec estaba muerto, regresaron a sus casas.

57 Además, Dios hizo que los hombres de Siquén pagaran por toda su maldad. Así cayó sobre ellos la maldición de Jotán hijo de Yerubaal.
