1 Samuel 21:12

And David laid up these words in his heart
Pondered upon them, and thought them over in his mind, finding that he was known, and his character also, and considered with himself what might be the consequence of this:

and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath;
lest he should be set against him, and be prevailed upon by his servants to take away his life, or deliver him up into the hands of Saul.

10 Naquele dia, Davi fugiu de Saul e foi procurar Aquis, rei de Gate.

11 Todavia os conselheiros de Aquis lhe disseram: “Não é este Davi, o rei da terra de Israel? Não é aquele acerca de quem cantavam em suas danças:“ ‘Saul matou milhares;Davi, dezenas de milhares’?”

12 Davi levou a sério aquelas palavras e ficou com muito medo de Aquis, rei de Gate.

13 Por isso, na presença deles fingiu que estava louco; enquanto esteve com eles, agiu como um louco, riscando as portas da cidade e deixando escorrer saliva pela barba.

14 Aquis disse a seus conselheiros: “Vejam este homem! Ele está louco! Por que trazê-lo aqui?
