Ver. 5 Only if thou carefully hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, &c.] In his word, and by his prophets; this being the case, there would be no more poor among them, or however they would be so blessed of God, that they would be capable of releasing the debts of the poor, without hurting themselves and their families:
to observe to do all these commandments which I command thee this day; a phrase often used to put them in mind of the commands of God, and the necessity of keeping them, their temporal happiness depending thereon.

Vocês poderão exigir pagamento do estrangeiro, mas terão que cancelar qualquer dívida de seus irmãos israelitas.

Assim, não deverá haver pobre algum no meio de vocês, pois na terra que o SENHOR, o seu Deus, está dando a vocês como herança para que dela tomem posse, ele os abençoará ricamente,

contanto que obedeçam em tudo ao SENHOR, o seu Deus, e ponham em prática toda esta lei que hoje estou dando a vocês.

Pois o SENHOR, o seu Deus, os abençoará conforme prometeu, e vocês emprestarão a muitas nações, mas de nenhuma tomarão emprestado. Vocês dominarão muitas nações, mas por nenhuma serão dominados.

“Se houver algum israelita pobre em qualquer das cidades da terra que o SENHOR, o seu Deus, está dando a vocês, não endureçam o coração, nem fechem a mão para com o seu irmão pobre.
