King James Version (KJV) New International Version (NIV)
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness;
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 7 and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
For if these things be in you, and abound , they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off , and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 9 But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall : 10 Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall,
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
