Job 40 WEB/NIV - Online Parallel Bible

World English Bible (WEB) New International Version (NIV)
Moreover Yahweh answered Job, 1 The LORD said to Job:
"Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it." 2 "Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!"
Then Job answered Yahweh, 3 Then Job answered the LORD:
"Behold, I am of small account. What shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth. 4 "I am unworthy--how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth.
I have spoken once, and I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further." 5 I spoke once, but I have no answer-- twice, but I will say no more."
Then Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind, 6 Then the LORD spoke to Job out of the storm:
"Now brace yourself like a man. I will question you, and you will answer me. 7 "Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.
Will you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified? 8 "Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself ?
Or have you an arm like God? Can you thunder with a voice like him? 9 Do you have an arm like God's, and can your voice thunder like his?
"Now deck yourself with excellency and dignity. Array yourself with honor and majesty. 10 Then adorn yourself with glory and splendor, and clothe yourself in honor and majesty.
Pour forth the fury of your anger. Look on everyone who is proud, and bring him low. 11 Unleash the fury of your wrath, look at every proud man and bring him low,
Look on everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place. 12 look at every proud man and humble him, crush the wicked where they stand.
Hide them in the dust together. Bind their faces in the hidden place. 13 Bury them all in the dust together; shroud their faces in the grave.
Then I will also admit to you That your own right hand can save you. 14 Then I myself will admit to you that your own right hand can save you.
"See now, behemoth, which I made as well as you. He eats grass as an ox. 15 "Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feeds on grass like an ox.
Look now, his strength is in his loins, His force is in the muscles of his belly. 16 What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly!
He moves his tail like a cedar: The sinews of his thighs are knit together. 17 His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit.
His bones are like tubes of brass. His limbs are like bars of iron. 18 His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron.
He is the chief of the ways of God. He who made him gives him his sword. 19 He ranks first among the works of God, yet his Maker can approach him with his sword.
Surely the mountains bring him forth food, Where all the animals of the field do play. 20 The hills bring him their produce, and all the wild animals play nearby.
He lies under the lotus trees, In the covert of the reed, and the marsh. 21 Under the lotus plants he lies, hidden among the reeds in the marsh.
The lotuses cover him with their shade. The willows of the brook surround him. 22 The lotuses conceal him in their shadow; the poplars by the stream surround him.
Behold, if a river overflows, he doesn't tremble. He is confident, though the Jordan swells even to his mouth. 23 When the river rages, he is not alarmed; he is secure, though the Jordan should surge against his mouth.
Shall any take him when he is on the watch, Or pierce through his nose with a snare? 24 Can anyone capture him by the eyes, or trap him and pierce his nose?
