Now when Jesus had come down from the mountain, large crowds followed him. 1 When he came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him.
A man with a skin disease came, kneeled before him, and said, "Lord, if you want, you can make me clean." 2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."
Jesus reached out his hand and touched him, saying, "I do want to. Become clean." Instantly his skin disease was cleansed. 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" Immediately he was cured of his leprosy.
Jesus said to him, "Don't say anything to anyone. Instead, go and show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded. This will be a testimony to them." 4 Then Jesus said to him, "See that you don't tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them."
When Jesus went to Capernaum, a centurion approached, 5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help.
pleading with him, "Lord, my servant is flat on his back at home, paralyzed, and his suffering is awful." 6 "Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering."
Jesus responded, "I'll come and heal him." 7 Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him."
But the centurion replied, "Lord, I don't deserve to have you come under my roof. Just say the word and my servant will be healed. 8 The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.
I'm a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to one, ‘Go,' and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,' and the servant does it." 9 For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it."
When Jesus heard this, he was impressed and said to the people following him, "I say to you with all seriousness that even in Israel I haven't found faith like this. 10 When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.
I say to you that there are many who will come from east and west and sit down to eat with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. 11 I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.
But the children of the kingdom will be thrown outside into the darkness. People there will be weeping and grinding their teeth." 12 But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
Jesus said to the centurion, "Go; it will be done for you just as you have believed." And his servant was healed that very moment. 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour.
Jesus went home with Peter and saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 14 When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.
He touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she got up and served them. 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.
That evening people brought to Jesus many who were demon-possessed. He threw the spirits out with just a word. He healed everyone who was sick. 16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.
This happened so that what Isaiah the prophet said would be fulfilled: He is the one who took our illnesses and carried away our diseases. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases."
Now when Jesus saw the crowd, he ordered his disciples to go over to the other side of the lake. 18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake.

Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens, and the birds in the sky have nests, but the Human One has no place to lay his head." 20 Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
Another man, one of his disciples, said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father." 21 Another disciple said to him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."
But Jesus said to him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead." 22 But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."
When Jesus got into a boat, his disciples followed him. 23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.
A huge storm arose on the lake so that waves were sloshing over the boat. But Jesus was asleep. 24 Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.
They came and woke him, saying, "Lord, rescue us! We're going to drown!" 25 The disciples went and woke him, saying, "Lord, save us! We're going to drown!"
He said to them, "Why are you afraid, you people of weak faith?" Then he got up and gave orders to the winds and the lake, and there was a great calm. 26 He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The people were amazed and said, "What kind of person is this? Even the winds and the lake obey him!" 27 The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!"
When Jesus arrived on the other side of the lake in the country of the Gadarenes, two men who were demon-possessed came from among the tombs to meet him. They were so violent that nobody could travel on that road. 28 When he arrived at the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs met him. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.
They cried out, "What are you going to do with us, Son of God? Have you come to torture us before the time of judgment?" 29 "What do you want with us, Son of God?" they shouted. "Have you come here to torture us before the appointed time?"
Far off in the distance a large herd of pigs was feeding. 30 Some distance from them a large herd of pigs was feeding.
The demons pleaded with him, "If you throw us out, send us into the herd of pigs." 31 The demons begged Jesus, "If you drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs."
Then he said to the demons, "Go away," and they came out and went into the pigs. The whole herd rushed down the cliff into the lake and drowned. 32 He said to them, "Go!" So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water.
Those who tended the pigs ran into the city and told everything that had happened to the demon-possessed men. 33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men.
Then the whole city came out and met Jesus. When they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region. 34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.
