Proverbs 8 LEB/NIV - Online Parallel Bible

Lexham English Bible (LEB) New International Version (NIV)
Does not wisdom call, and understanding raise its voice? 1 Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?
{Atop the heights} beside the road, at the crossroads she stands. 2 On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand;
Beside gates, before towns, [at the] entrance of doors, she cries out: 3 beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud:
"To you, O {people}, I call, and my cry is to the children of humankind. 4 "To you, O men, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.
Learn prudence, O simple ones; fools, learn {intelligence}. 5 You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding.
Listen! For noble things I will speak, and upright things from the opening of my lips. 6 Listen, for I have worthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right.
My mouth will utter truth, and wickedness [is] an abomination to my lips. 7 My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.
All sayings of my mouth [are] in righteousness; none of them are twisted and crooked. 8 All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse.
All of them are straight to him who understands, and upright to those who find knowledge. 9 To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless to those who have knowledge.
Take my teaching and not silver; may you choose knowledge rather than choice gold. 10 Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,
For wisdom is better than jewels, and all desires shall not compare with her. 11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
I, wisdom, live with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion. 12 "I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.
The fear of Yahweh [is] hatred of evil, pride, and arrogance and an evil way. And I hate a mouth of perversity. 13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.
{Advice and sound judgment} are mine; I am understanding, {strength is mine}. 14 Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have understanding and power.
By me kings reign, and rulers decree righteousness. 15 By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just;
By me rulers rule, and nobles--all judges of righteousness. 16 by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth.
I love {those who love me}, and those who seek me diligently shall find me. 17 I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.
Fortune and glory [are] with me, enduring wealth and righteousness. 18 With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.
My fruit is better than gold, even refined gold, and my yield than choice silver. 19 My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.
In the way of righteousness I walk, in the midst of paths of justice, 20 I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,
[in order] to endow those who love me [with] wealth, and I will fill their treasuries. 21 bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasuries full.
"Yahweh possessed me, [the] first of his ways, before his acts {of old}. 22 "The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;
From eternity, I was set up from [the] first, from the beginning of the earth. 23 I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began.
When there were no depths, I was brought forth, when there were no springs of {abounding} water. 24 When there were no oceans, I was given birth, when there were no springs abounding with water;
Before mountains had been shaped, before hills, I was brought forth. 25 before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth,
When he had not yet made earth and fields, or the first dust of the world, 26 before he made the earth or its fields or any of the dust of the world.
{when he established} the heavens, there I [was], {when he drew} a circle upon the face of the deep, 27 I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
{when he made} skies from above, when he founded fountains of the deep, 28 when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,
{when he assigned} his limits to the sea, that waters shall not transgress his {command}, {when he marked} the foundations of the earth, 29 when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
I was {beside} him, a master workman, and I was delighting day by day, rejoicing before him {always}, 30 Then I was the craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence,
rejoicing in the world of his earth, and my delight [was] with the children of humankind. 31 rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.
"And now, children, listen to me; happy [are] those who will keep my ways. 32 "Now then, my sons, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.
Hear teaching and be wise; do not neglect [it]. 33 Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it.
Happy [is the] person who listens to me, [in order] to keep watch at my doors day by day, [in order] to guard the frames of my entrances. 34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.
For he who finds me [is] he who finds life, and he obtains favor from Yahweh. 35 For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the LORD.
But he who misses me injures himself. All those who hate me love death." 36 But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death."
