Good News Translation (GNT) New International Version (NIV)
So then, my friends, because of God's great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer. 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship.
Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God - what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.
And because of God's gracious gift to me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you should. Instead, be modest in your thinking, and judge yourself according to the amount of faith that God has given you. 3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
We have many parts in the one body, and all these parts have different functions. 4 Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function,
In the same way, though we are many, we are one body in union with Christ, and we are all joined to each other as different parts of one body. 5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
So we are to use our different gifts in accordance with the grace that God has given us. If our gift is to speak God's message, we should do it according to the faith that we have; 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.
if it is to serve, we should serve; if it is to teach, we should teach; 7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;
if it is to encourage others, we should do so. Whoever shares with others should do it generously; whoever has authority should work hard; whoever shows kindness to others should do it cheerfully. 8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
Love must be completely sincere. Hate what is evil, hold on to what is good. 9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Love one another warmly as Christians, and be eager to show respect for one another. 10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
Work hard and do not be lazy. Serve the Lord with a heart full of devotion. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
Let your hope keep you joyful, be patient in your troubles, and pray at all times. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Share your belongings with your needy fellow Christians, and open your homes to strangers. 13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Ask God to bless those who persecute you - yes, ask him to bless, not to curse. 14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Be happy with those who are happy, weep with those who weep. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
Have the same concern for everyone. Do not be proud, but accept humble duties. Do not think of yourselves as wise. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
If someone has done you wrong, do not repay him with a wrong. Try to do what everyone considers to be good. 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody.
Do everything possible on your part to live in peace with everybody. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Never take revenge, my friends, but instead let God's anger do it. For the scripture says, "I will take revenge, I will pay back, says the Lord." 19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.
Instead, as the scripture says: "If your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them a drink; for by doing this you will make them burn with shame." 20 On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."
Do not let evil defeat you; instead, conquer evil with good. 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
