The Darby Translation (DBY) New International Version (NIV)
{A Psalm of David.} Jehovah, hear my prayer; give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, in thy righteousness. 1 O LORD, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.
And enter not into judgment with thy servant; for in thy sight no man living shall be justified. 2 Do not bring your servant into judgment, for no one living is righteous before you.
For the enemy persecuteth my soul: he hath crushed my life down to the earth; he hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead. 3 The enemy pursues me, he crushes me to the ground; he makes me dwell in darkness like those long dead.
And my spirit is overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate. 4 So my spirit grows faint within me; my heart within me is dismayed.
I remember the days of old: I meditate on all thy doing; I muse on the work of thy hands. 5 I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done.
I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul, as a parched land, [thirsteth] after thee. Selah. 6 I spread out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land. "Selah"
