New American Standard (NAS) New International Version (NIV)
But as for you, speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. 1 You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.
Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sensible, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance. 2 Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, 3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 4 Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,
to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored. 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
Likewise urge the young men to be sensible; 6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.
