2 Timothy 1:6-16

NLT 6 This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. NIV 6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. NLT 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. NIV 7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. NLT 8 So never be ashamed to tell others about our Lord. And don’t be ashamed of me, either, even though I’m in prison for him. With the strength God gives you, be ready to suffer with me for the sake of the Good News. NIV 8 So do not be ashamed to testify about our Lord, or ashamed of me his prisoner. But join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God, NLT 9 For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. NIV 9 who has saved us and called us to a holy life--not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, NLT 10 And now he has made all of this plain to us by the appearing of Christ Jesus, our Savior. He broke the power of death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the Good News. NIV 10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. NLT 11 And God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News. NIV 11 And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher. NLT 12 That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return. NIV 12 That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day. NLT 13 Hold on to the pattern of wholesome teaching you learned from me—a pattern shaped by the faith and love that you have in Christ Jesus. NIV 13 What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. NLT 14 Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you. NIV 14 Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you--guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. NLT 15 As you know, everyone from the province of Asia has deserted me—even Phygelus and Hermogenes. NIV 15 You know that everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes. NLT 16 May the Lord show special kindness to Onesiphorus and all his family because he often visited and encouraged me. He was never ashamed of me because I was in chains. NIV 16 May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains.
