Acts 1:1-6

KJV 1 The former treatise have I made , O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach , NIV 1 In my former book, Theophilus, I wrote about all that Jesus began to do and to teach KJV 2 Until the day in which he was taken up , after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen : NIV 2 until the day he was taken up to heaven, after giving instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles he had chosen. KJV 3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: NIV 3 After his suffering, he showed himself to these men and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God. KJV 4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. NIV 4 On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. KJV 5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. NIV 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." KJV 6 When they therefore were come together , they asked of him, saying , Lord , wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? NIV 6 So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"
