Acts 3:12-26

RSV 12 And when Peter saw it he addressed the people, "Men of Israel, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we had made him walk? NIV 12 When Peter saw this, he said to them: "Men of Israel, why does this surprise you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? RSV 13 The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. NIV 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. You handed him over to be killed, and you disowned him before Pilate, though he had decided to let him go. RSV 14 But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, NIV 14 You disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. RSV 15 and killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses. NIV 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this. RSV 16 And his name, by faith in his name, has made this man strong whom you see and know; and the faith which is through Jesus has given the man this perfect health in the presence of you all. NIV 16 By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see. RSV 17 "And now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. NIV 17 "Now, brothers, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did your leaders. RSV 18 But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he thus fulfilled. NIV 18 But this is how God fulfilled what he had foretold through all the prophets, saying that his Christ would suffer. RSV 19 Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, NIV 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, RSV 20 and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, NIV 20 and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you--even Jesus. RSV 21 whom heaven must receive until the time for establishing all that God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old. NIV 21 He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. RSV 22 Moses said, 'The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet from your brethren as he raised me up. You shall listen to him in whatever he tells you. NIV 22 For Moses said, 'The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your own people; you must listen to everything he tells you. RSV 23 And it shall be that every soul that does not listen to that prophet shall be destroyed from the people.' NIV 23 Anyone who does not listen to him will be completely cut off from among his people.' RSV 24 And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came afterwards, also proclaimed these days. NIV 24 "Indeed, all the prophets from Samuel on, as many as have spoken, have foretold these days. RSV 25 You are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God gave to your fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your posterity shall all the families of the earth be blessed.' NIV 25 And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, 'Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.' RSV 26 God, having raised up his servant, sent him to you first, to bless you in turning every one of you from your wickedness." NIV 26 When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways."
