Acts 9:27-37

NRS 27 But Barnabas took him, brought him to the apostles, and described for them how on the road he had seen the Lord, who had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had spoken boldly in the name of Jesus. NIV 27 But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. He told them how Saul on his journey had seen the Lord and that the Lord had spoken to him, and how in Damascus he had preached fearlessly in the name of Jesus. NRS 28 So he went in and out among them in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord. NIV 28 So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord. NRS 29 He spoke and argued with the Hellenists; but they were attempting to kill him. NIV 29 He talked and debated with the Grecian Jews, but they tried to kill him. NRS 30 When the believers learned of it, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus. NIV 30 When the brothers learned of this, they took him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus. NRS 31 Meanwhile the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and was built up. Living in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers. NIV 31 Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace. It was strengthened; and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, it grew in numbers, living in the fear of the Lord. NRS 32 Now as Peter went here and there among all the believers, he came down also to the saints living in Lydda. NIV 32 As Peter traveled about the country, he went to visit the saints in Lydda. NRS 33 There he found a man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden for eight years, for he was paralyzed. NIV 33 There he found a man named Aeneas, a paralytic who had been bedridden for eight years. NRS 34 Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you; get up and make your bed!" And immediately he got up. NIV 34 "Aeneas," Peter said to him, "Jesus Christ heals you. Get up and take care of your mat." Immediately Aeneas got up. NRS 35 And all the residents of Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord. NIV 35 All those who lived in Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord. NRS 36 Now in Joppa there was a disciple whose name was Tabitha, which in Greek is Dorcas. She was devoted to good works and acts of charity. NIV 36 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which, when translated, is Dorcas ), who was always doing good and helping the poor. NRS 37 At that time she became ill and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in a room upstairs. NIV 37 About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room.
