LEB 17 Because of this do not become foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord [is]. NIV 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. LEB 18 And do not be drunk with wine (in which is dissipation), but be filled by the Spirit, NIV 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. LEB 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and singing praise in your heart to the Lord, NIV 19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, LEB 20 giving thanks always for all [things] in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to the God and Father, NIV 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. LEB 21 being subject to one another {out of reverence for} Christ NIV 21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. LEB 22 --wives to their own husbands as to the Lord, NIV 22 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. LEB 23 because [the] husband is [the] head of the wife, as also Christ [is the] head of the church (he himself [being the] Savior of the body). NIV 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. LEB 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, thus also wives [should be subject] to their husbands in everything. NIV 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
