Ephesians 5:7-16

LEB 7 Therefore do not be sharers with them, NIV 7 Therefore do not be partners with them. LEB 8 for you were formerly darkness, but now [you are] light in the Lord. Live like children of light NIV 8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light LEB 9 (for the fruit of the light [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth), NIV 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) LEB 10 trying to learn what is well-pleasing to the Lord. NIV 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. LEB 11 And do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even expose [them]. NIV 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. LEB 12 For it is shameful even to speak [about] the things being [done] by them in secret, NIV 12 For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. LEB 13 but all [things] exposed by the light are made visible, NIV 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, LEB 14 for everything made visible is light. Therefore it says, Wake up, sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.<note: A quotation of unknown origin with possible allusions to Isa 26:19, 51:17, 52:1, 60:1> NIV 14 for it is light that makes everything visible. This is why it is said: "Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." LEB 15 Therefore, consider carefully how you live, not as unwise but as wise, NIV 15 Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, LEB 16 making the most of the time because the days are evil. NIV 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
