Exodus 30

YLT 1 `And thou hast made an altar [for] making perfume; [of] shittim wood thou dost make it; NIV 1 "Make an altar of acacia wood for burning incense. YLT 2 a cubit its length, and a cubit its breadth, (it is square), and two cubits its height; its horns [are] of the same. NIV 2 It is to be square, a cubit long and a cubit wide, and two cubits high--its horns of one piece with it. YLT 3 `And thou hast overlaid it with pure gold, its top, and its sides round about, and its horns; and thou hast made to it a crown of gold round about; NIV 3 Overlay the top and all the sides and the horns with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it. YLT 4 and two rings of gold thou dost make to it under its crown; on its two ribs thou dost make [them], on its two sides, and they have become places for staves, to bear it with them. NIV 4 Make two gold rings for the altar below the molding--two on opposite sides--to hold the poles used to carry it. YLT 5 `And thou hast made the staves of shittim wood, and hast overlaid them with gold; NIV 5 Make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. YLT 6 and thou hast put it before the vail, which [is] by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy-seat which [is] over the testimony, whither I am met with thee. NIV 6 Put the altar in front of the curtain that is before the ark of the Testimony--before the atonement cover that is over the Testimony--where I will meet with you. YLT 7 `And Aaron hath made perfume on it, perfume of spices, morning by morning; in his making the lamps right he doth perfume it, NIV 7 "Aaron must burn fragrant incense on the altar every morning when he tends the lamps. YLT 8 and in Aaron's causing the lamps to go up between the evenings, he doth perfume it; a continual perfume before Jehovah to your generations. NIV 8 He must burn incense again when he lights the lamps at twilight so incense will burn regularly before the LORD for the generations to come. YLT 9 `Ye do not cause strange perfume to go up upon it, and burnt-offering, and present, and libation ye do not pour out on it; NIV 9 Do not offer on this altar any other incense or any burnt offering or grain offering, and do not pour a drink offering on it. YLT 10 and Aaron hath made atonement on its horns, once in a year, by the blood of the sin-offering of atonements; once in a year doth he make atonement for it, to your generations; it [is] most holy to Jehovah.' NIV 10 Once a year Aaron shall make atonement on its horns. This annual atonement must be made with the blood of the atoning sin offering for the generations to come. It is most holy to the LORD." YLT 11 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying, NIV 11 Then the LORD said to Moses, YLT 12 `When thou takest up the sum of the sons of Israel for their numbers, then they have given each an atonement [for] his soul to Jehovah in their being numbered, and there is no plague among them in their being numbered. NIV 12 "When you take a census of the Israelites to count them, each one must pay the LORD a ransom for his life at the time he is counted. Then no plague will come on them when you number them. YLT 13 `This they do give, every one passing over unto those numbered, half a shekel, by the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel [is] twenty gerahs); half a shekel [is] the heave-offering to Jehovah; NIV 13 Each one who crosses over to those already counted is to give a half shekel, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs. This half shekel is an offering to the LORD. YLT 14 every one passing over unto those numbered, from a son of twenty years and upwards, doth give the heave-offering of Jehovah; NIV 14 All who cross over, those twenty years old or more, are to give an offering to the LORD. YLT 15 the rich doth not multiply, and the poor doth not diminish from the half-shekel, to give the heave-offering of Jehovah, to make atonement for your souls. NIV 15 The rich are not to give more than a half shekel and the poor are not to give less when you make the offering to the LORD to atone for your lives. YLT 16 `And thou hast taken the atonement-money from the sons of Israel, and hast given it for the service of the tent of meeting; and it hath been to the sons of Israel for a memorial before Jehovah, to make atonement for your souls.' NIV 16 Receive the atonement money from the Israelites and use it for the service of the Tent of Meeting. It will be a memorial for the Israelites before the LORD, making atonement for your lives." YLT 17 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying, NIV 17 Then the LORD said to Moses, YLT 18 `And thou hast made a laver of brass (and its base of brass), for washing; and thou hast put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and hast put water there; NIV 18 "Make a bronze basin, with its bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water in it. YLT 19 and Aaron and his sons have washed at it their hands and their feet, NIV 19 Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet with water from it. YLT 20 in their going in unto the tent of meeting they wash [with] water, and die not; or in their drawing nigh unto the altar to minister, to perfume a fire-offering to Jehovah, NIV 20 Whenever they enter the Tent of Meeting, they shall wash with water so that they will not die. Also, when they approach the altar to minister by presenting an offering made to the LORD by fire, YLT 21 then they have washed their hands and their feet, and they die not, and it hath been to them a statute age-during, to him and to his seed to their generations.' NIV 21 they shall wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come." YLT 22 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying, NIV 22 Then the LORD said to Moses, YLT 23 `And thou, take to thyself principal spices, wild honey five hundred [shekels]; and spice-cinnamon, the half of that, two hundred and fifty; and spice-cane two hundred and fifty; NIV 23 "Take the following fine spices: 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of fragrant cane, YLT 24 and cassia five hundred, by the shekel of the sanctuary, and olive oil a hin; NIV 24 500 shekels of cassia--all according to the sanctuary shekel--and a hin of olive oil. YLT 25 and thou hast made it a holy anointing oil, a compound mixture, work of a compounder; it is a holy anointing oil. NIV 25 Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil. YLT 26 `And thou hast anointed with it the tent of meeting, and the ark of the testimony, NIV 26 Then use it to anoint the Tent of Meeting, the ark of the Testimony, YLT 27 and the table and all its vessels, and the candlestick and its vessels, and the altar of perfume, NIV 27 the table and all its articles, the lampstand and its accessories, the altar of incense, YLT 28 and the altar of burnt-offering and all its vessels, and the laver and its base; NIV 28 the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the basin with its stand. YLT 29 and thou hast sanctified them, and they have been most holy; all that is coming against them is holy; NIV 29 You shall consecrate them so they will be most holy, and whatever touches them will be holy. YLT 30 and Aaron and his sons thou dost anoint, and hast sanctified them for being priests to Me. NIV 30 "Anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate them so they may serve me as priests. YLT 31 `And unto the sons of Israel thou dost speak, saying, A holy anointing oil is this to Me, to your generations; NIV 31 Say to the Israelites, 'This is to be my sacred anointing oil for the generations to come. YLT 32 on flesh of man it is not poured, and with its proper proportion ye make none like it; it [is] holy; it is holy to you; NIV 32 Do not pour it on men's bodies and do not make any oil with the same formula. It is sacred, and you are to consider it sacred. YLT 33 a man who compoundeth [any] like it, or who putteth of it on a stranger -- hath even been cut off from his people.' NIV 33 Whoever makes perfume like it and whoever puts it on anyone other than a priest must be cut off from his people.' " YLT 34 And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Take to thee spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum, spices and pure frankincense; they are part for part; NIV 34 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Take fragrant spices--gum resin, onycha and galbanum--and pure frankincense, all in equal amounts, YLT 35 and thou hast made it a perfume, a compound, work of a compounder, salted, pure, holy; NIV 35 and make a fragrant blend of incense, the work of a perfumer. It is to be salted and pure and sacred. YLT 36 and thou hast beaten [some] of it small, and hast put of it before the testimony, in the tent of meeting, whither I am met with thee; most holy it is to you. NIV 36 Grind some of it to powder and place it in front of the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, where I will meet with you. It shall be most holy to you. YLT 37 `As to the perfume which thou makest, with its proper proportion ye do not make to yourselves, holy it is to thee to Jehovah; NIV 37 Do not make any incense with this formula for yourselves; consider it holy to the LORD. YLT 38 a man who maketh [any] like it -- to be refreshed by it -- hath even been cut off from his people.' NIV 38 Whoever makes any like it to enjoy its fragrance must be cut off from his people."
