Genesis 13

WBT 1 And Abram returned from Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. NIV 1 So Abram went up from Egypt to the Negev, with his wife and everything he had, and Lot went with him. WBT 2 And Abram [was] very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. NIV 2 Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold. WBT 3 And he went on his journeys from the south even to Beth-el, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Beth-el and Hai; NIV 3 From the Negev he went from place to place until he came to Bethel, to the place between Bethel and Ai where his tent had been earlier WBT 4 To the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD. NIV 4 and where he had first built an altar. There Abram called on the name of the LORD. WBT 5 And Lot also, who went with Abram, had flocks, and herds, and tents. NIV 5 Now Lot, who was moving about with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents. WBT 6 And the land was not able to bear them, that they might dwell together: for their substance was great, so that they could not dwell together. NIV 6 But the land could not support them while they stayed together, for their possessions were so great that they were not able to stay together. WBT 7 And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelt then in the land. NIV 7 And quarreling arose between Abram's herdsmen and the herdsmen of Lot. The Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land at that time. WBT 8 And Abram said to Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we [are] brethren. NIV 8 So Abram said to Lot, "Let's not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers. WBT 9 [Is] not the whole land before thee? Separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if [thou wilt take] the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if [thou wilt depart] to the right hand, then I will go to the left. NIV 9 Is not the whole land before you? Let's part company. If you go to the left, I'll go to the right; if you go to the right, I'll go to the left." WBT 10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it [was] well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, [even] as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest to Zoar. NIV 10 Lot looked up and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan was well watered, like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, toward Zoar. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) WBT 11 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other. NIV 11 So Lot chose for himself the whole plain of the Jordan and set out toward the east. The two men parted company: WBT 12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain, and pitched [his] tent towards Sodom. NIV 12 Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom. WBT 13 But the men of Sodom [were] wicked, and sinners before the LORD, exceedingly. NIV 13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD. WBT 14 And the LORD said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art, northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: NIV 14 The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. WBT 15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. NIV 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. WBT 16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, [then] shall thy seed also be numbered. NIV 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. WBT 17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it to thee. NIV 17 Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you." WBT 18 Then Abram removed [his] tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which [is] in Hebron, and built there an altar to the LORD. NIV 18 So Abram moved his tents and went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he built an altar to the LORD.
