Genesis 17:1-7

NLT 1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the appeared to him and said, “I am El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. NIV 1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless. NLT 2 I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.” NIV 2 I will confirm my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers." NLT 3 At this, Abram fell face down on the ground. Then God said to him, NIV 3 Abram fell facedown, and God said to him, NLT 4 “This is my covenant with you: I will make you the father of a multitude of nations! NIV 4 "As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations. NLT 5 What’s more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram. Instead, you will be called Abraham, for you will be the father of many nations. NIV 5 No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. NLT 6 I will make you extremely fruitful. Your descendants will become many nations, and kings will be among them! NIV 6 I will make you very fruitful; I will make nations of you, and kings will come from you. NLT 7 “I will confirm my covenant with you and your descendants after you, from generation to generation. This is the everlasting covenant: I will always be your God and the God of your descendants after you. NIV 7 I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.
