James 1:13-18

NRS 13 No one, when tempted, should say, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil and he himself tempts no one. NIV 13 When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; NRS 14 But one is tempted by one's own desire, being lured and enticed by it; NIV 14 but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. NRS 15 then, when that desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and that sin, when it is fully grown, gives birth to death. NIV 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. NRS 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved. NIV 16 Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. NRS 17 Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. NIV 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. NRS 18 In fulfillment of his own purpose he gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would become a kind of first fruits of his creatures. NIV 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
