1 A esto respondió Bildad de Súah:

1 Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:

2 «Dios es poderoso e infunde temor;él pone orden en las alturas de los cielos.

2 “Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven.

3 ¿Pueden contarse acaso sus ejércitos?¿Sobre quién no alumbra su luz?

3 Can his forces be numbered? On whom does his light not rise?

4 ¿Cómo puede el hombredeclararse inocente ante Dios?¿Cómo puede alegar purezaquien ha nacido de mujer?

4 How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?

5 Si a sus ojos no tiene brillo la luna,ni son puras las estrellas,

5 If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes,

6 mucho menos el hombre, simple gusano;¡mucho menos el hombre, miserable lombriz!»

6 how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot— a human being, who is only a worm!”
