CEB 1 I assure you that whoever doesn't enter into the sheep pen through the gate but climbs over the wall is a thief and an outlaw. NRS 1 "Very truly, I tell you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold by the gate but climbs in by another way is a thief and a bandit. CEB 2 The one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. NRS 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. CEB 3 The guard at the gate opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. NRS 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. CEB 4 Whenever he has gathered all of his sheep, he goes before them and they follow him, because they know his voice. NRS 5 They will not follow a stranger, but they will run from him because they do not know the voice of strangers." CEB 6 Those who heard Jesus use this analogy didn't understand what he was saying. NRS 6 Jesus used this figure of speech with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them. CEB 7 So Jesus spoke again, “I assure you that I am the gate of the sheep. NRS 7 So again Jesus said to them, "Very truly, I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. CEB 8 All who came before me were thieves and outlaws, but the sheep didn't listen to them. NRS 8 All who came before me are thieves and bandits; but the sheep did not listen to them. CEB 9 I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture. NRS 9 I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. CEB 10 The thief enters only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came so that they could have life—indeed, so that they could live life to the fullest. NRS 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
