Jude 1

HNV 1 Yehudah, a servant of Yeshua the Messiah, and brother of Ya`akov, to those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and kept for Yeshua the Messiah: NIV 1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James, To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ: HNV 2 Mercy to you and shalom and love be multiplied. NIV 2 Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. HNV 3 Beloved, while I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I was constrained to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the holy ones. NIV 3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt I had to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints. HNV 4 For there are certain men who crept in secretly, even they who were of old written of beforehand to this condemnation: ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only Master, God, and Lord, Yeshua the Messiah. NIV 4 For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. HNV 5 Now I desire to remind you, though you already know this, that the Lord, having saved a people out of the land of Mitzrayim, afterward destroyed those who didn't believe. NIV 5 Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. HNV 6 Messengers who didn't keep their first domain, but deserted their own dwelling place, he has kept in everlasting bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day. NIV 6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home--these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. HNV 7 Even as Sedom and `Amorah, and the cities around them, having, in the same way as these, given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire. NIV 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. HNV 8 Yet in like manner these also in their dreaming defile the flesh, despise authority, and slander celestial beings. NIV 8 In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies, reject authority and slander celestial beings. HNV 9 But Mikha'el, the chief angel, when contending with the devil and arguing about the body of Moshe, dared not bring against him an abusive condemnation, but said, "May the Lord rebuke you!" NIV 9 But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" HNV 10 But these speak evil of whatever things they don't know. What they understand naturally, like the creatures without reason, in these things are they destroyed. NIV 10 Yet these men speak abusively against whatever they do not understand; and what things they do understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals--these are the very things that destroy them. HNV 11 Woe to them! For they went in the way of Kayin, and ran riotously in the error of Bil`am for hire, and perished in Korach's rebellion. NIV 11 Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam's error; they have been destroyed in Korah's rebellion. HNV 12 These are hidden rocky reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you, shepherds who without fear feed themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn leaves without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; NIV 12 These men are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm--shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted--twice dead. HNV 13 wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever. NIV 13 They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever. HNV 14 To these also Hanokh, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, "Behold, the Lord came with ten thousands of his holy ones, NIV 14 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men: "See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones HNV 15 to execute judgment on all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their works of ungodliness which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." NIV 15 to judge everyone, and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly acts they have done in the ungodly way, and of all the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken against him." HNV 16 These are murmurers and complainers, walking after their lusts (and their mouth speaks proud things), showing respect of persons for the sake of advantage. NIV 16 These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage. HNV 17 But you, beloved, remember the words which have been spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. NIV 17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. HNV 18 They said to you that "In the last time there will be mockers, walking after their own ungodly lusts." NIV 18 They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." HNV 19 These are they who cause divisions, and are sensual, not having the Spirit. NIV 19 These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. HNV 20 But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Ruach HaKodesh. NIV 20 But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. HNV 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah to eternal life. NIV 21 Keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. HNV 22 On some have compassion, making a distinction, NIV 22 Be merciful to those who doubt; HNV 23 and some save, snatching them out of the fire with fear, hating even the clothing stained by the flesh. NIV 23 snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. HNV 24 Now to him who is able to keep them from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory in great joy, NIV 24 To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy-- HNV 25 to God our Savior, who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amein. NIV 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
