Luke 13:13-23

DBY 13 And he laid his hands upon her; and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. NIV 13 Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God. DBY 14 But the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus healed on the sabbath, answering said to the crowd, There are six days in which [people] ought to work; in these therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. NIV 14 Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue ruler said to the people, "There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath." DBY 15 The Lord therefore answered him and said, Hypocrites! does not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the manger and leading [it] away, water [it]? NIV 15 The Lord answered him, "You hypocrites! Doesn't each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? DBY 16 And this [woman], who is a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound, lo, [these] eighteen years, ought she not to be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? NIV 16 Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?" DBY 17 And as he said these things, all who were opposed to him were ashamed; and all the crowd rejoiced at all the glorious things which were being done by him. NIV 17 When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing. DBY 18 And he said, To what is the kingdom of God like? and to what shall I liken it? NIV 18 Then Jesus asked, "What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to? DBY 19 It is like a grain of mustard [seed] which a man took and cast into his garden; and it grew and became a great tree, and the birds of heaven lodged in its branches. NIV 19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air perched in its branches." DBY 20 And again he said, To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? NIV 20 Again he asked, "What shall I compare the kingdom of God to? DBY 21 It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal until the whole was leavened. NIV 21 It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount of flour until it worked all through the dough." DBY 22 And he went through one city and village after another, teaching, and journeying to Jerusalem. NIV 22 Then Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he made his way to Jerusalem. DBY 23 And one said to him, Sir, [are] such as are to be saved few in number? But he said unto them, NIV 23 Someone asked him, "Lord, are only a few people going to be saved?" He said to them,
