Luke 1:1-6

DBY 1 Forasmuch as many have undertaken to draw up a relation concerning the matters fully believed among us, NIV 1 Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, DBY 2 as those who from the beginning were eye-witnesses of and attendants on the Word have delivered them to us, NIV 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. DBY 3 it has seemed good to *me* also, accurately acquainted from the origin with all things, to write to thee with method, most excellent Theophilus, NIV 3 Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, DBY 4 that thou mightest know the certainty of those things in which thou hast been instructed. NIV 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught. DBY 5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest, by name Zacharias, of the course of Abia, and his wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name Elizabeth. NIV 5 In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron. DBY 6 And they were both just before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. NIV 6 Both of them were upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord's commandments and regulations blamelessly.
