Mark 8:34-38

RSVA 34 And he called to him the multitude with his disciples, and said to them, "If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. NIV 34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. RSVA 35 For whoever would save his life will lose it; and whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel's will save it. NIV 35 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. RSVA 36 For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? NIV 36 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? RSVA 37 For what can a man give in return for his life? NIV 37 Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? RSVA 38 For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of man also be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels." NIV 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."
