Matthew 26:36-46

NLT 36 Then Jesus brought them to an olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, "Sit here while I go on ahead to pray." NIV 36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." NLT 37 He took Peter and Zebedee's two sons, James and John, and he began to be filled with anguish and deep distress. NIV 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. NLT 38 He told them, "My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and watch with me." NIV 38 Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me." NLT 39 He went on a little farther and fell face down on the ground, praying, "My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine." NIV 39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will." NLT 40 Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, "Couldn't you stay awake and watch with me even one hour? NIV 40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter. NLT 41 Keep alert and pray. Otherwise temptation will overpower you. For though the spirit is willing enough, the body is weak!" NIV 41 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." NLT 42 Again he left them and prayed, "My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away until I drink it, your will be done." NIV 42 He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done." NLT 43 He returned to them again and found them sleeping, for they just couldn't keep their eyes open. NIV 43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. NLT 44 So he went back to pray a third time, saying the same things again. NIV 44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing. NLT 45 Then he came to the disciples and said, "Still sleeping? Still resting? Look, the time has come. I, the Son of Man, am betrayed into the hands of sinners. NIV 45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. NLT 46 Up, let's be going. See, my betrayer is here!" NIV 46 Rise, let us go! Here comes my betrayer!"
