GOD'S WORD Translation

New International Version

Psalm 1

GW 1 Blessed is the person who does not follow the advice of wicked people, take the path of sinners, or join the company of mockers. NIV 1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. GW 2 Rather, he delights in the teachings of the LORD and reflects on his teachings day and night. NIV 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. GW 3 He is like a tree planted beside streams-- a tree that produces fruit in season and whose leaves do not wither. He succeeds in everything he does. NIV 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. GW 4 Wicked people are not like that. Instead, they are like husks that the wind blows away. NIV 4 Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. GW 5 That is why wicked people will not be able to stand in the judgment and sinners will not be able to stand where righteous people gather. NIV 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. GW 6 The LORD knows the way of righteous people, but the way of wicked people will end. NIV 6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
