Psalm 12

NKJV 1 To the Chief Musician. On an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David. Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases! For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men. NIV 1 Help, LORD, for the godly are no more; the faithful have vanished from among men. NKJV 2 They speak idly everyone with his neighbor; With flattering lips and a double heart they speak. NIV 2 Everyone lies to his neighbor; their flattering lips speak with deception. NKJV 3 May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, And the tongue that speaks proud things, NIV 3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue NKJV 4 Who have said, "With our tongue we will prevail; Our lips are our own; Who is lord over us?" NIV 4 that says, "We will triumph with our tongues; we own our lips--who is our master?" NKJV 5 "For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, Now I will arise," says the Lord; "I will set him in the safety for which he yearns." NIV 5 "Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD. "I will protect them from those who malign them." NKJV 6 The words of the Lord are pure words, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times. NIV 6 And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times. NKJV 7 You shall keep them, O Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever. NIV 7 O LORD, you will keep us safe and protect us from such people forever. NKJV 8 The wicked prowl on every side, When vileness is exalted among the sons of men. NIV 8 The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.
