Psalm 14

GNT 1 Fools say to themselves, "There is no God!" They are all corrupt, and they have done terrible things; there is no one who does what is right. NIV 1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. GNT 2 The Lord looks down from heaven at us humans to see if there are any who are wise, any who worship him. NIV 2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. GNT 3 But they have all gone wrong; they are all equally bad. Not one of them does what is right, not a single one. NIV 3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. GNT 4 "Don't they know?" asks the Lord. "Are all these evildoers ignorant? They live by robbing my people, and they never pray to me." NIV 4 Will evildoers never learn-- those who devour my people as men eat bread and who do not call on the LORD? GNT 5 But then they will be terrified, for God is with those who obey him. NIV 5 There they are, overwhelmed with dread, for God is present in the company of the righteous. GNT 6 Evildoers frustrate the plans of the humble, but the Lord is their protection. NIV 6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor, but the LORD is their refuge. GNT 7 How I pray that victory will come to Israel from Zion. How happy the people of Israel will be when the Lord makes them prosperous again! NIV 7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
