Psalm 52

TMB 1 <<To the chief musician: Maschil. A Psalm of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, "David has come to the house of Ahimelech.">> Why boastest thou in thine own mischief, O mighty man? The goodness of God endureth continually. NIV 1 Why do you boast of evil, you mighty man? Why do you boast all day long, you who are a disgrace in the eyes of God? TMB 2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. NIV 2 Your tongue plots destruction; it is like a sharpened razor, you who practice deceit. TMB 3 Thou lovest evil more than good, and lying rather than speaking righteousness. Selah NIV 3 You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth. "Selah" TMB 4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue. NIV 4 You love every harmful word, O you deceitful tongue! TMB 5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever; He shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah NIV 5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin: He will snatch you up and tear you from your tent; he will uproot you from the land of the living. "Selah" TMB 6 The righteous also shall see this and fear, and shall laugh at him: NIV 6 The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at him, saying, TMB 7 "Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his own wickedness." NIV 7 "Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!" TMB 8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever. NIV 8 But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing love for ever and ever. TMB 9 I will praise Thee for ever, because Thou hast done it, and I will wait on Thy name, for it is good before Thy saints. NIV 9 I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. I will praise you in the presence of your saints.
