Psalm 7

NLT 1 I come to you for protection, O LORD my God. Save me from my persecutors—rescue me! NIV 1 O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, NLT 2 If you don’t, they will maul me like a lion, tearing me to pieces with no one to rescue me. NIV 2 or they will tear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me. NLT 3 O LORD my God, if I have done wrong or am guilty of injustice, NIV 3 O LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands-- NLT 4 if I have betrayed a friend or plundered my enemy without cause, NIV 4 if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me or without cause have robbed my foe-- NLT 5 then let my enemies capture me. Let them trample me into the ground and drag my honor in the dust. Interlude NIV 5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. "Selah" NLT 6 Arise, O LORD , in anger! Stand up against the fury of my enemies! Wake up, my God, and bring justice! NIV 6 Arise, O LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice. NLT 7 Gather the nations before you. Rule over them from on high. NIV 7 Let the assembled peoples gather around you. Rule over them from on high; NLT 8 The LORD judges the nations. Declare me righteous, O LORD , for I am innocent, O Most High! NIV 8 let the LORD judge the peoples. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High. NLT 9 End the evil of those who are wicked, and defend the righteous. For you look deep within the mind and heart, O righteous God. NIV 9 O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure. NLT 10 God is my shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right. NIV 10 My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart. NLT 11 God is an honest judge. He is angry with the wicked every day. NIV 11 God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day. NLT 12 If a person does not repent, God will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow. NIV 12 If he does not relent, he will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow. NLT 13 He will prepare his deadly weapons and shoot his flaming arrows. NIV 13 He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows. NLT 14 The wicked conceive evil; they are pregnant with trouble and give birth to lies. NIV 14 He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment. NLT 15 They dig a deep pit to trap others, then fall into it themselves. NIV 15 He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made. NLT 16 The trouble they make for others backfires on them. The violence they plan falls on their own heads. NIV 16 The trouble he causes recoils on himself; his violence comes down on his own head. NLT 17 I will thank the LORD because he is just; I will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High. NIV 17 I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
