38 Entonces cayó fuego del SEÑOR, el cual consumió el holocausto, la leña, las piedras, el polvo, y aun lamió las aguas que estaban en la zanja

39 Y viéndolo, todo el pueblo, cayeron sobre sus rostros, y dijeron: ¡El SEÑOR es el Dios! ¡El SEÑOR es el Dios

40 Y les dijo Elías: Prended a los profetas de Baal, que no escape ninguno. Y ellos los prendieron; y los llevó Elías al arroyo de Cisón, y allí los mató

41 Entonces Elías dijo a Acab: Sube, come y bebe; porque una gran lluvia suena

42 Y Acab subió a comer y a beber. Y Elías subió a la cumbre del Carmelo; y postrándose en tierra, puso su rostro entre las rodillas

43 Y dijo a su criado: Sube ahora, y mira hacia el mar. Y él subió, y miró, y dijo: No hay nada. Y él le volvió a decir: Vuelve siete veces

44 Y a la séptima vez dijo: He aquí una pequeña nube como la palma de la mano de un hombre, que sube del mar. Y él dijo: Ve, y di a Acab: Unce tu carro y desciende, para que la lluvia no te ataje

45 Y aconteció, estando en esto, que los cielos se oscurecieron con nubes y viento; y hubo una gran lluvia. Y subiendo Acab, vino a Jezreel

46 Y la mano del SEÑOR era sobre Elías, el cual ciñó sus lomos, y vino corriendo delante de Acab hasta llegar a Jezreel

INTRODUCTION TO 1 KINGS 18

In this chapter Elijah has an order from the Lord to show himself to Ahab, who, going first, and meeting with a servant of his, Obadiah, charges him to tell his master where he was, that he might meet him, 1Ki 18:1-16, and, upon meeting him, desires that all Israel, and the prophets of Baal, might be convened, which was accordingly done, 1Ki 18:17-20, when he expostulated with the people of Israel for their idolatry, mocked and confounded the prophets of Baal, and gave the strongest proofs, to the conviction of the people, that Jehovah is the true God, 1Ki 18:21-39, on which all the prophets of Baal were slain, 1Ki 18:40, and rain in great abundance was given at the prayer of the prophet, 1Ki 18:41-46.
