Now when they had passed throughAmphipolisandApollonia, they cametoThessalonica,wherewas a synagogue of the Jews:

AndPaul,as his manner was, went inuntothem,and*threesabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,

Openingandalleging, thatChrist must needs have suffered, and risen againfrom the dead;andthatthisJesus,whom[a]Ipreach unto you,isChrist.

Andsomeofthembelieved, andconsorted with PaulandSilas;and of the devoutGreeks a greatmultitude,and of the chiefwomennot a few.

But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy*, took unto themcertainlewdfellows of the baser sort,and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, andassaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bringthemout to the people.

And when they foundthemnot, they drewJasonandcertainbrethrenunto the rulers of the city,crying*, These that have turned the world upside down are comehitheralso;

WhomJason hath received: andthesealldocontrary to the decrees of Caesar,saying that there isanotherking, one Jesus.

And they troubled the peopleand the rulers of the city, when they heard these things.

And when they had takensecurityofJason,and of the other, they letthemgo.

And the brethrenimmediately sent away*PaulandSilasbynightuntoBerea:whocoming thither wentinto the synagogue of the Jews.

Thesewere more noble than those inThessalonica, in that theyreceived the wordwithall readiness of mind, and searched the scripturesdaily*, whether those thingswereso.

Therefore*manyofthembelieved; also of honourablewomenwhich were Greeks,and of men,not a few.

Butwhen the JewsofThessalonica had knowledgethattheword of God was preachedofPaulatBerea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

Andthenimmediately the brethren sent awayPaul to go as it wereto the sea:but*SilasandTimotheusabodetherestill.
