And he found a Jewnamed3Aquila, a native of 4Pontus, having recentlycome from 5Italy with his wife6Priscilla, because7Claudius had commandedall the Jews to leaveRome. He came to them,

and because he was of the sametrade, he stayed with them and 8they were working, for by trade they were tent-makers.

And he was reasoning9in the synagogueevery10Sabbath and trying to persuade11Jews and Greeks.

But when12Silas and Timothy13camedown from 14Macedonia, Paul began devoting himself completely to the word, solemnly15testifying to the Jews that 16Jesus was the Christ.

But when they resisted and blasphemed, he 17shook out his garments and said to them, "Your 18blood be on your own heads! I am clean. From now on I will go19to the Gentiles."

Then he leftthere and went to the house of a mannamedTitiusJustus, 20a worshiper of God, whosehouse was next to the synagogue.

21Crispus, 22the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord23with all his household, and many of the 24Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized.

And the Lordsaid to Paul in the night by 25a vision, "Do not be afraid any longer, but go on speaking and do not be silent;
10
for I am with you, and noman will attack you in order to harm you, for I have manypeople in thiscity."

And he settled there a year and sixmonths, teaching the word of Godamong them.
