Some of His disciplesthensaid to oneanother, "What is thisthing He is telling us, '1A littlewhile, and you will not see Me; and again a littlewhile, and you will see Me'; and, 'because2I go to the Father '?"

So they were saying, "What is this that He says, 'A littlewhile '? We do not knowwhat He is talking about."

3Jesusknew that they wished to question Him, and He said to them, "Are you deliberatingtogether*aboutthis, that I said, 'A littlewhile, and you will not see Me, and again a littlewhile, and you will see Me'?

"Truly, truly, I say to you, that 4you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but 5your grief will be turned into joy.

"6Whenever a woman is in labor she haspain, because her hour has come; but when she givesbirth to the child, she nolongerremembers the anguishbecause of the joy that a child has been born into the world.

"Therefore7you toohavegriefnow; but 8I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and noone will take your joyaway from you.
Prayer Promises
23"9In that day10you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, 11if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you.

"12Untilnow you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your 13joy may be madefull.

"Thesethings I have spoken to you in 14figurativelanguage; 15an hour is comingwhen I will nolongerspeak to you in figurativelanguage, but will tell you plainly of the Father.

"16In that day17you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf;

for 18the FatherHimselfloves you, because you have loved Me and 19have believed that 20I cameforth from the Father.

"21I cameforth from the Father and have come into the world; I am leaving the worldagain and 22going to the Father."

His disciplessaid, "Lo, now You are speakingplainly and are not using23a figure of speech.

"Now we know that You knowallthings, and havenoneed for anyone to question You; by this we 24believe that You 25came from God."

"Behold, 26an hour is coming, and has already come, for 27you to be scattered, each to 28his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet 29I am not alone, because the Father is with Me.

"Thesethings I have spoken to you, so that 30in Me you may havepeace. 31In the world you havetribulation, but 32takecourage; 33I have overcome the world."
