And following Him was a largecrowd of the people, and of womenwho were 1mourning and lamenting Him.

But Jesusturning to them said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, stopweeping for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

"For behold, the days are comingwhen* they will say, '2Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that neverbore, and the breasts that nevernursed.'

"Then they will begin TO 3SAY TO THE MOUNTAINS, 'FALL ON US,' AND TO THE HILLS, 'COVER US.'

"For if they dothesethingswhen the tree is green, what will happenwhen it is dry?"

4Twoothersalso, who were criminals, were being ledaway to be put to death with Him.
The Crucifixion
335When they came to the placecalled The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.

But Jesus was saying, "6Father, forgive them; for they do not knowwhat they are doing."7And they castlots, dividing up His garmentsamong themselves.

And the peoplestood by, looking on. And even the 8rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He savedothers; 9let Him saveHimselfifthis is the Christ of God, His ChosenOne."

The soldiersalsomocked Him, coming up to Him, 10offering Him sourwine

and saying, "11If You are the King of the Jews, saveYourself!"
