They crucifiedtworobbers with Him, one on His right and one on His left.

Thosepassing by were hurlingabuse at Him, 12wagging their heads, and saying, "Ha! You who are going to 13destroy the temple and rebuild it in threedays,

In the sameway the chiefpriestsalso, along with the scribes, were mocking Him amongthemselves and saying, "14He savedothers; He cannot*saveHimself.

"Let this Christ, 15the King of Israel, nowcomedown from the cross, so that we may see and believe!" 16Those who were crucified with Him were alsoinsulting Him.

17When the 18sixthhourcame, darknessfellover the wholelanduntil the 19ninthhour.

At the 20ninthhourJesuscried out with a loudvoice, "21ELOI, ELOI, LAMASABACHTHANI?"which is translated, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY* HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?"

When some of the bystandersheard it, they began saying, "Behold, He is calling for Elijah."

Someoneran and filled a sponge with sourwine, put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink, saying, "Let us seewhetherElijah will come to take Him down."

23And the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

24When the centurion, who was standingright in front of Him, saw the way He breathed His last, he said, "Trulythisman was the Son of God!"

25There were also some womenlooking on from a distance, amongwhom were MaryMagdalene, and Mary the mother of James26the Less and Joses, and 27Salome.

When He was in Galilee, they used to follow Him and 28minister to Him; and there were manyotherwomen who came up with Him to Jerusalem.
