11Now when morningcame, all the chiefpriests and the elders of the peopleconferred* together againstJesus to put Him to death;

and they bound Him, and led Him away and 2delivered Him to 3Pilate the governor.

Then when 4Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he feltremorse and returned5the thirtypieces of silver to the chiefpriests and elders,

saying, "I have sinned by betrayinginnocentblood." But they said, "What is that to us? 6See to that yourself!"

And he threw the pieces of silver into 7the templesanctuary and departed; and 8he wentaway and hanged himself.

The chiefprieststook the pieces of silver and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the templetreasury, since it is the price of blood."

And they conferred*together and with the moneybought the Potter'sField as a burialplace for strangers.

9For thisreason that field has been called the Field of Blood to thisday.

Then that which was spokenthroughJeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "10AND THEY TOOK THE THIRTYPIECES OF SILVER, THE PRICE OF THE ONE WHOSEPRICE HAD BEEN SET by the sons of Israel;

11AND THEY GAVE THEM FOR THE POTTER'SFIELD, AS THE LORDDIRECTED
