Proverbs 19:6-16

Many seek the favor of a generous man,[a] and everyone is a friend to a man who gives 1gifts.
2All a poor man's brothers hate him; 3how much more do his friends go far from him! He pursues them with words, but does not have them.[b]
4Whoever gets sense loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will 5discover good.
6A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who 7breathes out lies will perish.
8It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury, much less for 9a slave to rule over princes.
10Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.
A king's wrath is like 11the growling of a lion, but his 12favor is like 13dew on the grass.
14A foolish son is ruin to his father, and 15a wife's quarreling is 16a continual dripping of rain.
17House and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a prudent wife is 18from the LORD.
19Slothfulness casts into 20a deep sleep, and 21an idle person will suffer hunger.
Whoever 22keeps the commandment keeps his life; he who despises his ways will die.
