And the multitude rose up togetheragainstthem:and the magistrates rent offtheirclothes, and commanded to beat them.

And when they had laidmanystripes upon them, they cast them intoprison,charging the jailor to keepthemsafely:

Who, having receivedsuch a charge,thrusttheminto the innerprison,andmadetheirfeetfastin the stocks.

AndatmidnightPaulandSilasprayed , and sang praises unto God:and the prisonersheardthem.

Andsuddenly there was a greatearthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken : andimmediatelyall the doors were opened , and every one'sbands were loosed .

And the keeper of the prisonawaking out of his sleep,andseeing the prisondoorsopen , he drew out his sword, and would have killedhimself,supposing that the prisoners had been fled .

ButPaulcried with a loudvoice,saying , Dothyselfnoharm:for we areallhere.

Then he called for a light, and sprang in , andcametrembling, and fell down beforePaulandSilas,

Andbroughtthemout, and said , Sirs,whatmustIdoto be saved ?
