Then the soldiers,when they had crucifiedJesus,tookhisgarments,andmadefourparts, to everysoldier a part; and also his coat:now the coatwas without seam,woven[a]from the topthroughout*.

They saidthereforeamongthemselves, Let usnotrendit,but cast lotsforit,whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, whichsaith, They partedmyraiment among them,andformyvesture they did castlots. These things*therefore the soldiersdid.

Now there stoodby the cross of Jesushismother,andhismother'ssister,Mary the wife of Cleophas,[b]andMaryMagdalene.

When Jesusthereforesaw his mother,and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto hismother,Woman,beholdthyson!

Then saith he to the disciple,Beholdthymother!Andfromthathour that discipletookherunto his own home.

Afterthis,Jesusknowingthat all thingswerenowaccomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

Now there was set a vesselfull of vinegar:and they filled a spunge with vinegar,and put it uponhyssop, and put it to hismouth.

WhenJesustherefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

The Jewstherefore,because it was the preparation,that the bodiesshouldnotremainupon the crosson the sabbath day,* (for that sabbath daywas an high day,) besoughtPilatethattheirlegs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

Thencame the soldiers,andbrake the legs of thefirst,and of the otherwhich was crucified withhim.

Butwhen they cametoJesus, and saw that he was deadalready, they brakenothislegs:

Butone of the soldiers with a spearpiercedhisside,andforthwith came there outbloodandwater.

And he that saw it bare record, andhisrecordistrue: and heknoweththat he saithtrue,thatye might believe.

For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of himshallnot be broken.

Andagainanotherscripturesaith, They shall lookon him whom they pierced.

AndafterthisJosephofArimathaea,being a disciple of Jesus,butsecretlyforfear of the Jews,besoughtPilatethat he might take away the body of Jesus:andPilate gave him leave. He cametherefore,andtook the body of Jesus.

And there camealsoNicodemus,which at the firstcametoJesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrhandaloes,about an hundredpound weight.

Then took they the body of Jesus,andwoundit in linen clotheswith the spices,as the manner of the Jewsis to bury.

Nowin the placewhere he was crucified there was a garden;andin the garden a newsepulchre,wherein*wasnevermanyetlaid.

There laid theyJesusthereforebecause of the Jews'preparation day; for the sepulchrewas nigh at hand.
