"To whatthen shall I compare the men of thisgeneration, and what are they like?

"They are likechildren who sit in the marketplace and call to oneanother, and they say, 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.'

"For John the Baptist has come1eatingnobread and drinkingnowine, and you say, 'He has a demon!'

"The Son of Man has comeeating and drinking, and you say, 'Behold, a gluttonousman and a drunkard, a friend of taxcollectors and sinners!'

Nowone of the Pharisees was requesting Him to dine with him, and He entered the Pharisee'shouse and reclined at the table.

3And there was a woman in the citywho was a sinner; and when she learned that He was reclining at the table in the Pharisee'shouse, she brought an alabastervial of perfume,

and standingbehind Him at His feet, weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears, and kept wiping them with the hair of her head, and kissing His feet and anointing them with the perfume.

Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he said to himself, "Ifthisman were 4a prophet He would knowwho and whatsort of personthiswoman is who is touching Him, that she is a sinner."
Parable of Two Debtors
40 And Jesusanswered him, "Simon, I havesomething to say to you." And he replied, "Say it, Teacher."

"A moneylenderhadtwodebtors: oneowedfivehundred5denarii, and the otherfifty.

"When they 6were unable* to repay, he graciouslyforgave them both. Sowhich of them will love him more?"

Simonanswered and said, "I suppose the one whom he forgavemore." And He said to him, "You have judgedcorrectly."

Turningtoward the woman, He said to Simon, "Do you seethiswoman? I entered your house; you 7gave Me nowater for My feet, but she has wet My feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair.

"You 8gave Me nokiss; but she, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss My feet.
46
"9You did not anoint My head with oil, but she anointed My feet with perfume.
47
"For thisreason I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she lovedmuch; but he who is forgivenlittle, loveslittle."

Then He said to her, "10Your sins have been forgiven."

Those who were reclining at the table with Him began to say to themselves, "11Who is this man whoevenforgivessins?"

And He said to the woman, "12Your faith has saved you; 13go in peace."
